Miss Roo is on her way!

December 20, 2001

We got the joy of going in to the hospital for "observation" on Thursday the 20th.  After a quick routine exam at the doctor's office, I was instructed to go in to Clovis Community Hospital so they could monitor contractions for an hour and see if there were any further cervical changes.  So, I went home, got Edison ready to go to Grammy & Grampy's house and picked up Varrin.  We got to the hospital about an hour later.

I went in at 4cm (almost half way to completely dialated), 80% effaced (cervix nearly thinned completely) and 0 (zero) station (baby's head resting on my cervix).  When I left there about an hour and a half later I had made no cervical changes but had been having contractions every 2 to 8 minutes apart.  These contractions did not hurt at all but are obviously serving a purpose.  They are dialating my cervix slowly (I've been 3-4cm for almost 2 weeks) which is a blessing and getting me ready for the rest of the journey ahead.

Thank you to the nurses that helped us during this visit.  Wendy & Lorie were great!  And thank you Grammy & Grampy for taking such good care of Edison on such short notice.
