Edison enjoyed his very first Christmas at home with Daddy and Mommy.
We got presents from all over the country and the world. Edison was
fastinated at the array of gifts but when it came time to open them, he
was not only no interested he didn't like the paper and made the snooty
face when he touched it. So, we spent a couple of hours opening the
presents for him while he enjoyed playing with things that were not for
playing with. He especially enjoyed some new glass ornaments for
"baby's first Christmas" and fussed when we took those away. He also
enjoyed playing with a travel utensil set all morning.
He did enjoy his new toys too. He especially liked a percussion set that his Uncle Paul (Edi's brother) got for him, paying special attention to the hand cymbals! Now we know what Nanna meant when she said that it was a good thing he had learned how to clap. He really does a great job playing the cymbals and enjoys them best. We have enjoyed being a family band the last few days.
After a few hours he had to take a nap break and then had lunch. While he was occupied with that, we put everything away and got his new toys all situated among his old toys. He was still able to pick them out when he woke from his nap. What a smart boy! So to the cymbals he ran (he is nearly running now). Mommy read Edison this year's Christmas story when he woke from his nap. The book we purchased for this Christmas is "Jesus Birthday, My Birthday". It has facing pages that show the similarities and differences of the birth of Christ and the birth of a little one. He doesn't sit still for long but Mommy managed to read fast and get through the entire book. This is a tradition that Mommy got from another mommy at one of her M.O.P.S. meetings, the purchasing and reading of a new Christmas story each year. She liked it so much, she is additing it to our own family's Christmas traditions.
A funny story: Mommy and Daddy each got Edison one present this year and Santa brought him one present. Daddy got Edison some blocks, Santa brought Edison a Veggie Tales video and Mommy got Edison a Farm Animals See n' Say. The one toy he *doesn't* like is the See n' Say. He gets frustrated because he can't pull down the handle to make the sounds. It is hillarious to see him walk by it and shake his head, "No!" or throw himself down on the floor in a pout because he doesn't care for that toy and knows it is the one that makes him mad!
In all, it was a grand 1st Christmas for Edison. We are surprised that Miss Roo didn't get to celebrate her 1st Christmas with Edison but she is still cooking inside. We're excited for her arrival and enjoying life with Edison as he grows and grows. Where does the time go?
