Belgium is known for several things. There’s chocolate, waffles,
lace, beer, and I suppose tapestries. I brought back some chocolate,
ate plenty of waffles, drank a couple different Belgian beers and bought
some lace. The only thing left was the tapestries. One day
my shopping partner (Jennifer, the other First Officer) and I wandered
into a tapestry store. I had never really paid any attention to tapestries
before. It turns out, at least in Belgian tapestries, there are several
rather common ones which the artists craft in different sizes and colors,
all by hand. Surprisingly the prices aren’t ridiculously expensive
for a modest sized piece. The one I hold up in the picture was maybe
$175. It’s called “Quest for the Holy Grail”. That is one of
the most common ones. Also the wine making ones seen in the background
are fairly common.
