My apologies for not posting these earlier. The camping part of the
trip got posted and I forgot about these pictures. Anyhow, this trip
spanned a weekend (Friday through Monday) starting at Edison Lake in the
high Sierra's in California. Jan Weston, Dave Wallace, Jerry Wallace
and I were on the backpacking part of the trip. Due to an overturned
tanker we didn't arrive until afternoon. As a result we didn't get
the whole way to Graveyard Lakes (our destination) the first day. Instead,
we camped by a stream about half way there.
The second day, we got up and hit the trail, arriving mid day at Graveyard
Lakes. Jan and I had been to Graveyard before and we camped near (or
maybe at?) the spot we did the last time which was over 10 years earlier.
It was just as beautiful as we remembered it. Jerry was definitely
into the fishing action and spent a lot of the weekend fishing. Jan
and Dave and I did the usual mountain climb. This time our target was
Graveyard Peak. The Graveyard Lakes chain has about 7 lakes and a few
ponds in it at elevations in the low 10,000 ft. range. The peak is
a little over 11,000 ft., not a huge difference, but one that proved to be
a challenge because of the route we took. We started out early in the
morning, hiking by most of the lakes in the Graveyard chain (by the time
we were done, I think we had passed them all).
