Cologne and New York City
These pictures are from my trip in March 2007. They're from New York and Cologne, and I also went to Brussels but didn't take any pictures. On two successive weekends, I got to see some outstanding jazz in New York. The first weekend, the Ed Simon Trio was playing at Iridium, featuring Ed on piano, John Patittucci on Bass and Brian Blade on drums. The second weekend was the Downright Upright All-Stars featuring Brian Bromberg on Bass, Jeff Lorber on Keys, Randy Brecker on Trumpet, Gary Meek on Sax, and Dave Weckl on drums. I also stopped by Cleopatra's Needle to sit in (two weekends in a row) on the jam there led by Japanese piano player Toru Dodo. In Cologne, I stopped in at Melody and played a couple tunes, too, but didn't get any pictures of that. I did snap a few on my hike to the top of the Dom, though. And there's a few of the flying, tossed in there just for grins...
